President
Dr.
Gina Lukoczki, KGS

Gina Lukoczki is an applied carbonate geologist at the Kentucky Geological Survey. Her recent research activities focus on the critical mineral potential of carbonate hosted and other types of mineral deposits of Kentucky and the role of dolomitization on cave and karst development. Last year Gina was busy with organizing many of the AWG SE Bluegrass Chapter’s Lunch and Learn events and is excited to take these to the next level in the coming year. In addition, as the president of the chapter, Gina would like to focus on fund-raising efforts with the hope of laying down the groundwork to establish travel grants and research scholarships for students
in order to help increase the participation of underrepresented groups in the earth sciences.

Secretary
Antonia Bottoms, KGS, UK

In my personal time, I am a mom to two kids, and the owner of small farm full of chickens, dogs, cats, and bees. Professionally, I map surficial deposits throughout the state of Kentucky, and I am also a part-time graduate student with the University of Kentucky. As a student, I combine my knowledge of mapping surficial units with my interest in glacial lakes to look at lacustrine deposits near the Salt River. In my undergraduate experience, I was President of Sigma Gamma Epsilon and Vice President of the local Geology Club. I am very excited to be a part of the AWG, and I am looking forward to encouraging more people to come to our virtual talks and events. I am also eager for the day that we can all experience the comradery of this amazing group in person!

Treasurer
Sarah Arpin, KGS, UK

Sarah Arpin works with the Kentucky Geological Survey as a karst hydrologist and manager of the Kentucky Groundwater Data Repository. She is also beginning the first semester of her PhD program with the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Kentucky. Sarah led the effort to revive the Southeast Bluegrass Chapter of AWG when the organization was faced with dissolution in October of 2019. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, the chapter held some great meetings and events throughout 2020 and saw steady interest and attendance. After a successful year, the chapter’s probationary status was recently lifted. She would like to continue the momentum going into the new year and keep building the organization. The Southeast Bluegrass Chapter has been a great resource of knowledge and support for the community
so far!
